E non so mai esattamente cosa troverò.

Meet Diana González: as known as "Didi", the heart and face of the Didi Roads project. Born in Cuba, raised in Russia, and now living in Spain, Didi has a story that speaks of overcoming boundaries, both geographical and mental. What began as a fearful curiosity for two wheels has transformed into the key to discovering the world in a completely new light—no longer as simple tourists, but as true travellers.
From the lonely roads of the Pyrenees tackled in the saddle of a small 125cc, to the dusty trails of Morocco, up to the fascinating chaos of Vietnam on a modest 150cc, Didi reminds us of the purest essence of motorcycle touring: a genuine connection with the landscapes, an openness to different cultures, and the beauty of uncertainty.
If you are looking for inspiration for your next route, or if you simply need the right push to leave your worries behind and fire up the engine, this chat is for you. Let's discover Didi's world together, along with her travel tips and her upcoming project dedicated right to our beloved Alps.

- Introduce yourself and share the story of your journey into the world of motorcycles. What sparked your interest?
Didi: My real name is Diana González, but everyone calls me Didi. I currently live in Spain, but I was born in Cuba. I grew up in Russia (my mom is Russian), so part of my heart is also there somehow.
My relationship with motorcycles started through my passion for travelling. My father has always had a motorcycle, so I grew up with them around me and was always curious about them. At the same time, I was also a little intimidated by them and even scared of riding one myself.
It was when I started travelling that my relationship with motorcycles changed. I discovered that travelling by motorcycle allowed me to experience a journey in a completely different way: much closer to the landscape, the people and the road.
Little by little, the motorcycle stopped being simply a means of transportation and became an essential part of my travels. I have travelled through different countries by motorcycle, and every adventure has taught me something new. Today, that passion has also become my personal project, Didi Roads, where I share routes, travels and tips to help other riders discover the world on two wheels.
- Describe your favourite motorcycle ride. What type of scenery do you find most exciting?
Didi: This is probably one of the most difficult questions for me because I don't think I could choose just one motorcycle ride. I particularly love trips where the scenery constantly changes: high mountain roads, snow-capped peaks, desert landscapes, lush green valleys, lakes… and, above all, narrow and quiet roads where you can really enjoy your surroundings.
The Scottish Highlands are somewhere I would go back to a thousand times. I also love the Alps and the Pyrenees. I enjoy being surrounded by nature, seeing lakes, wildlife and those landscapes that make you stop your motorcycle just to take them in.
I think that's what I look for most when travelling by motorcycle: landscapes that surprise me and roads that give me a sense of peace.
- Share your best recommendation for a must-visit road or destination for motorcycle enthusiasts. Why is this place so special to you?
Didi: Without a doubt, I would recommend Morocco. What I love most about this destination is its contrasts. You can go from mountain roads to desert landscapes, from small villages to coastal areas, and from completely peaceful places to busy streets full of people, sounds and different smells around every corner.
I was particularly impressed by discovering that nomadic communities still live in the desert, without many of the supplies and services that we take for granted.
I also love the food, the landscapes and, above all, the people. They are incredibly kind and helpful, and travelling through Morocco makes you leave many of your prejudices behind. You realise that you don't need luxurious places to enjoy a trip; sometimes meeting local people, seeing how they live and sharing a moment with them is what makes an experience truly authentic.
I think Morocco has taught me a lot about appreciating what we have and understanding that happiness isn't necessarily about having more than others, but about the simple things in life: sharing moments with the people you love, enjoying the journey and being present. And experiencing all of that from a motorcycle makes it even more special.
- Take us into your garage. What motorcycle is parked there, and how do you use it? Is it for short rides or your trusted companion for epic journeys?
Didi: I currently ride a Macbor Montana XR1 125, which I use both for everyday riding and travelling.
Recently, I took it on a trip through the Pyrenees of around 1,700 kilometres, completely on my own. It was a very special experience for me because it showed me that you don't need a large-displacement motorcycle to go on a trip that can turn into a real adventure.
- Dream destinations await. If you could hop on your motorcycle and explore any place in the world, where would you go next?
Didi: This is a very difficult question for me because I have a restless mind and probably an endless list of places I want to visit.
If I could choose a destination to explore by motorcycle, Turkey or Romania would probably be among my first choices. They are two countries I've had in mind for years, and I would love to discover them on two wheels.
And if we're talking about renting a motorcycle, there is another place that really calls to me: Patagonia. I was recently in Argentina, but I didn't get the chance to travel that far south, and I left wanting to see it. I think exploring Patagonia by motorcycle would be an incredible experience.
And, of course, another dream trip I would love to do one day is Route 66.
- Putting on the helmet is a ritual for every rider. What goes through your mind when you gear up, start your bike, and hit the road?
Didi: I think that's the moment when I disconnect from everything else.
When I put my helmet on and start the motorcycle, another part of the day begins. I leave my worries, my phone, work… everything behind, and for a few hours it's just me, the motorcycle and the road.
And I never know exactly what I'm going to find. It might be an incredible landscape, a road I've never ridden before, someone I meet along the way, or simply a moment that I will remember afterwards. That sense of uncertainty is actually one of the things I love most about travelling by motorcycle.
- Do you have a preferred motorcycle model or type? How does it contribute to improving your riding experience?
Didi: I really love the look of adventure and trail motorcycles, but above all, I like them because of the versatility and comfort they offer for travelling.
I think a motorcycle designed for travelling allows you to enjoy many different types of roads while covering long distances comfortably, and that's very important to me.
And I don't think it necessarily comes down to engine size. I've had an amazing time travelling on a 125, and I would also love to do it one day on a larger motorcycle. For me, what's important is that the motorcycle suits the kind of journey you want to take and allows you to enjoy the road.
- Share the story of the coolest and most unconventional motorcycle you've ever had the pleasure of riding. What made it memorable?
Didi: Probably the most unusual motorcycle I've ever ridden was a Suzuki GZ150 during a trip through Vietnam.
It wasn't a big adventure bike or a powerful machine. It was a small 150cc cruiser/custom, but I rode it along winding roads through jungles, fields and rice paddies.
The adventure had pretty much everything: mosquitoes, monkeys, heat, roads that seemed to go on forever… and I was also wearing a helmet without a visor, so every ride was an experience in itself.
And that's exactly why I remember it so well. I didn't need an impressive motorcycle to feel like I was having a great adventure. A 150cc bike, an incredible country and an open road were enough.
Thank you Didi for telling your story!
