È il caso di Christine Heidi, una ragazza danese che ha vissuto la sua prima vera esperienza in moto come passeggera della cognata Ann-Kathrin, nota moto-viaggiatrice molto seguita dalla community degli appassionati di mototurismo. Insieme, le due ragazze hanno esplorato la Cappadocia, un viaggio che ha acceso in Christine un desiderio irrefrenabile: non limitarsi più ad essere una semplice passeggera, ma diventare protagonista della sua stessa avventura.
La sua storia è una testimonianza utilissima per chi non ha ancora avuto il coraggio di mettersi in gioco e diventare un motociclista o una motociclista, è il segno tangibile di come il mototurismo possa essere la scintilla che può trasformare una nuova passione in un percorso di scoperta personale, un viaggio interiore che porta a sfidare i propri limiti. Anche se è ancora alle prime armi e non ha ancora affrontato un vero viaggio in moto da sola, Christine ci accompagna in questa sua nuova sfida raccontandoci le sue prime esperienze, le emozioni vissute nei primi chilometri in sella, i sogni che già si stanno delineando nella sua mente. - Presentati e racconta la storia della tua passione per le moto.
Christine: Aber Hallo! Sono danese, mi chiamo Christine Heidi, ma la maggior parte delle persone mi chiama Christina. Questo soprannome è nato quando ero bambina: mio padre pensava che servisse troppa energia per essere chiamata anche con il “ne”, quindi ha iniziato a chiamarmi Stina fin da piccola. Heidi, invece, viene da un film tedesco chiamato Heidi in den Bergen (Heidi in montagna). Forse è per questo che amo così tanto le montagne! Fin da quando posso ricordare, ho sempre trovato pace e gioia lì. Amo fare escursioni e vedere come il panorama diventa sempre più bello man mano che si sale.
Alcuni anni fa, sono andata a casa di mio padre e ho scoperto che aveva una moto in garage. È stato in quel momento che ho scoperto che aveva la patente di guida da prima che nascessimo io e mio fratello maggiore. Siamo andati insieme in officina per alcuni lavori sulla moto, ed è lì che ricordo per la prima volta il mio interesse per questo mondo. Abbiamo parlato dei diversi modelli presenti e ho provato per la prima volta l’esperienza di viaggiare come passeggera.
Spostandoci rapidamente all’anno scorso, il 2024, sono andata in viaggio in moto con la sorella del mio ragazzo in Cappadocia, in Turchia. È lì che la mia passione si è davvero accesa. Si chiama Ann-Kathrin e ha viaggiato per il mondo su due ruote e con una tenda per circa cinque anni. Voleva mostrarmi il suo mondo e allo stesso tempo volevamo rafforzare il nostro rapporto da cognate. Il viaggio è stato incredibile e molto divertente. È sorprendente come viaggiare possa approfondire le amicizie e farci conoscere in un modo completamente nuovo.
Non sapevamo che questa esperienza mi avrebbe portato a crescere su Instagram, dove ho raccontato nelle storie che avrei preso la patente per poter guidare da sola e fare più viaggi in moto in futuro. Per mia fortuna, un manager di Yamaha mi ha scritto dicendo che pensavano fosse una storia davvero bella e che avrebbero voluto farne parte, se fossi stata interessata. Ovviamente ho detto un grande SI e poco dopo ho iniziato a prendere la patente per la moto a Berlino, in Germania.
Ho seguito un corso intensivo di 9 giorni e un corso fuoristrada lo stesso fine settimana. I primi tre giorni ci siamo concentrati su esercizi tecnici e sulla familiarizzazione con la moto in una pista chiusa. Poi abbiamo fatto allenamenti in città e infine un lungo viaggio di gruppo da Berlino alla Baviera. Eravamo in 12 allievi con 5 istruttori. Con tutto quell’allenamento mi sento davvero pronta e ben equipaggiata per i miei viaggi futuri.
- Descrivi il tuo giro in moto preferito. Quale paesaggio ti emoziona di più?
Christina: Finora ho guidato solo nella zona in cui vivo, a parte Berlino e la Baviera. Il viaggio più lungo che ho fatto da sola è stato di circa 8 ore, quando ho ritirato la mia moto e l’ho portata a casa lo stesso giorno. È stata quasi tutta autostrada e mi sono mancate le curve e la natura.
L’esperienza più emozionante che ho avuto finora è stata in Turchia, da passeggera. L’ho adorata! Sentire il vento, la moto e vivere pienamente il momento… Non sapevo quanto sarebbe stato meditativo stare su una moto. È stata una sensazione di pace e gioia. È lì che la mia mente si è accesa di creatività : mi sono venute in mente così tante idee mentre ero seduta lì. Amo il fatto che con la moto si possa vivere la natura molto più intensamente rispetto a un’auto. Ti senti davvero parte del mondo che ti circonda.
- Consiglia una strada o una destinazione imperdibile per gli appassionati di moto. Perché questo luogo è così speciale per te?
Christina: Per me, finora, è la Cappadocia. È lì che ho scoperto la mia passione per le moto e, allo stesso tempo, il paesaggio è mozzafiato. Ogni mattina si alzano in volo tra le 100 e le 150 mongolfiere, e il contrasto con le dune di sabbia, le montagne dalle forme uniche e le antiche abitazioni scavate nella roccia è qualcosa di incredibile. Nulla che possa vedere qui a casa.
Detto questo, ho viaggiato molto nella mia vita e credo che le strade delle Montagne Rocciose in Canada sarebbero spettacolari da percorrere su due ruote.
- Portaci nel tuo garage. Che moto hai e come la usi? Per brevi giri o come fedele compagna per viaggi epici?
Christina: Le mie moto preferite sono le scrambler. Prima ancora di iniziare il corso di guida, mi ero già fatta un’idea di cosa mi sarebbe piaciuto. Mi ero innamorata della Yamaha XSR700 perché mi ricordava molto le scrambler.
Durante il corso a Berlino ho provato diverse moto, tra cui la MT-07, la WR, la Ténéré… e ovviamente la XSR. Quando l’ho guidata ho capito subito che era la mia moto. È quella che ho scelto di portare a casa con me. Devo dire però che la Ténéré mi è piaciuta molto e posso immaginare di averne una in futuro.
- Destinazioni da sogno. Se tu potessi salire in sella ed esplorare qualsiasi luogo nel mondo, dove andresti?
Christina: In questo momento la mia destinazione da sogno sarebbe l’Islanda e le Isole Faroe, con la mia moto e una tenda. Poi, mi piacerebbe un viaggio in camper off-road in Romania o in Canada, sulle montagne innevate in inverno. Anche l’Alaska è nella mia lista dei desideri.
Per ora ho due viaggi in moto in programma: uno a Malaga, con il mio ragazzo e la tenda, senza itinerario fisso, lasciandoci guidare dalla strada. Poi andrò in Australia, dove incontrerò un’amica che è già là da qualche settimana. Faremo un viaggio in moto tutto al femminile.
- Indossare il casco è un rituale per ogni motociclista. Cosa ti passa per la testa quando ti prepari, avvii la moto e ti metti in strada?
Christina: "Non cadere! Ricorda tutto quello che hai imparato." Sono ancora nuova in questo mondo, quindi cerco di concentrarmi e di sviluppare buone abitudini fin dall’inizio.
Poi, quando sento il suono dello scarico, mi sento a casa. Mi sento tosta. Mi sento libera.
È divertente, prima di guidare moto suonavo il piano e per me Yamaha era sinonimo di strumenti musicali. Ora, quando guido, sento comunque la "musica": il suono dello scarico, il motore, il vento. La sensazione di inclinarmi in curva e controllare la moto è insieme rilassante ed elettrizzante.
- Hai un modello di moto preferito? Come contribuisce a migliorare la tua esperienza di guida?
Christina: Al momento adoro la mia Yamaha XSR700, versione Scrambler. È perfetta per la mia statura, la sento facile da gestire e non mi intimorisce. Questo mi permette di guidare con più sicurezza e migliorare la mia tecnica. Sto anche imparando come rialzare la moto dopo una caduta, e il fatto che non sia troppo pesante mi aiuta molto.
Un giorno mi piacerebbe provare una sportiva, mi affascina la fluidità con cui si piegano nelle curve.
- Racconta la storia della moto più interessante e insolita che hai guidato. Cosa l’ha resa memorabile?
Christina: La prima volta che ho guidato con un passeggero è stata con una donna che avevo appena incontrato per strada e che non ho mai più rivisto. Pochi minuti dopo, stavo già guidando con lei dietro di me sulla moto di suo marito. Lei non aveva la patente. Non ricordo la marca o il modello della moto, ricordo solo che era un po' più piccola e leggera della XSR, una moto dallo stile classico. Una moto molto bella, di quelle che ti fanno girare la testa per guardarle meglio. Sua moglie era davvero gentile e, da quel momento, ho iniziato a sentirmi molto più a mio agio nel portare qualcuno dietro di me.

Christina: Quando stavo facendo pratica per prendere la patente, ho notato che i motociclisti si salutano spesso tra loro, e questa cosa mi è piaciuta tantissimo! Non sapevo che i motociclisti fossero una vera comunità , sempre gentili e pronti ad aiutarsi. Ora sono pronta per la mia prossima avventura… e per salutare chi incontrerò durante il percorso! A motorcycle journey doesn’t always start with the ambition of a rider seeking adventure for many, the passion is born from the passenger seat, where the thrill of freedom is experienced from a different perspective, and certain emotions become impossible to ignore.
This is exactly what happened to Christine Heidi, a Danish rider who had her first real motorcycle experience as a passenger alongside her sister-in-law, Ann-Kathrin, a well-known motorcycle traveler followed by the moto-touring community. Together, they explored Cappadocia, a journey that ignited an unstoppable desire in Christine: to no longer remain just a passenger, but to take control of her own adventure.

- Introduce yourself and share the story of your journey into the world of motorcycles. What sparked your interest?
Christine: Aber Hallo! I am from Denmark. My name is Christine Heidi, but most people call me Christina. That started when I was a kid and my dad thought I had waaay too much energy to be called with “ne”, so he started calling me Stina from a very young age. Heidi: is from a german movie named Heidi in den Bergen (Heidi in the Mountain). I think that’s why I just LOVE the mountains! Since I can remember I always find peace and joy there. I enjoy hiking and seeing how the beautiful view evolves the further up you go.
Some years ago I went home to my dad and suddenly he had a motorcycle in the garage. That’s when I figured out that he have had a license from before he got my big brother and me. We then drove to the shop to get something on the bike done. When we were there that’s when I first remember my interest for motorcycles. We talked about the different bikes there and I tried driving as passenger for the first time.
I took an intensive 9-days course and an off-road course the same weekend. The first three days we were training technical and getting to know the bike on a closed runway. After that we went to city training and in the end we had a long ride from Berlin to Bayern together as a class. We were 12 people training together and 5 trainers. With all that training I feel really ready and well equiped for my own travels.
- Describe your favorite motorcyle ride. What type of scenery do you find most exciting?
Christina: So far I have only tried driving myself around the area where I live and not somewhere more exciting, other than Berlin and Bayern. The longest ride I had myself was around 8 hours when I picked up my bike and drove it home the same day. That was almost only highway and I missed the curvy roads and nature.
So for me the most exciting I had so far, was in Turkey as a passenger. I loved it! Feeling the wind, the motorcycle and to just go fully in the moment. I never knew how meditating it would be to be on a bike. It was a feeling of peace and joy. That’s where I got the most creative in my mind, so many ideas came to thought when I sad there. And I love that you can experience more nature than with a car. Also the feeling of being more in One with the world.
- Share your best recommendation for a must-visit road or destination for motorcycle enthusiasts. Why is this place so special for you?
Christina: For me so far it is Cappadoccia, only because that’s where I found the passion and at the same time the view was so beautiful. 100-150 hot air balloons flying each morning and then the sand with small feature sticks mountain and a lot of old stone homes everywhere. Nothing that I see here at home.
With that, I have been travelling a lot in my life and I feel the road of Rocky Mountains in Canada would be great on two wheels.
- Take us into your garage. What motorcycle is parked there, and how do you use it? Is it for short rides or your trusted companion for epic journeys?
Christina: My favorite type of bikes are Scrambler Bikes and before I went to training I already looked at what they had in store. I saw the XSR700, that I feel like reminds me the most of what I see when I search for Scramblers. At the training in Berlin I tried various of bikes, like the MT-07, WR, Tenere, etc. aaaand also the XSR. I felt so good with the XSR ,that was the bike I chose to have at home. Must say that, the Tenere also felt really good and I can see myself having that in the future.
- Dream destinations await. If you could hop on your motorcycle and explore any place in the world, where would you go next?
Christina: Dream destination for me at the moment would be Iceland and Faroe Islands with motorcycle and tent. Then I have a dream of going with an off-road camper to countries like Romania or Canada in the mountains in the snow, when it’s winter time. Alaska I also really would like to visit one day.
For now I have two motorcycle trips coming up. One in Malaga and then in Australia after. In Malaga is with my boyfriend on bikes and with tent. No plans, but where the road will lead us to. In Australia I am flying with a friend and we are meeting our friend there, who is going some weeks before us. We will have a little motorcycle girlstrip together.
Funny before I started driving motorcycles, I played piano and I always thought of Yamaha as “music” as instruments. Now when I drive I still hear “music”. Just a different kind. It’s the sound from the exhaust, the engine and the wind. The feeling of leaning and controlling the bike is relaxing and exciting.
- Do you have a preferred motorcycle model or type? How does it contribute to improving your riding experience?
Christina: At the moment I really like my Yamaha XSR700, Scrambler version. It fits my body size, therefore it’s easy for me to handle and I don’t feel intimidated by the bike. It improves my driving by me feeling really comfortable on it. I am also learning the technique of getting the bike up after tipping and with mine not being sooo heavy, I will get it fast.
One day I would also like to try a sport bike. When I see the videos online, when they lean in the curves and drive it so smooth. Looks like a lot of fun to me. My favorite place to drive, is curvy roads.

To my luck a manager at Yamaha wrote me - that they think its a really great story and they want to be a part of it, if I was interested. I off course said a big YES and short time after that, I started taking my motorcycle license in Berlin, Germany.
